Nigeria 2009: Pepsi Line Up Stars

As the countdown to the U 17 FIFA World Cup to be held in Nigeria in October continues to gather momentum, Pepsi is intent to help the Golden Eaglets perform creditably.

The Pepsi Football Academy has concluded plans to engage the Golden Eaglets in a football competition during late July '09 that will prove to be a tough test in their preparation for the tournament.

The academy organized, during April, a nationwide competition for its U 17 students involving every training center.
Selected PFA regional representative teams then traveled to the Gateway International Stadium Ijebu-Ode in early May for further competitive matches.

Towards enabling the PFA coaches to conclude their selection process, a final series of trials will be held at The Football College over the 11th -14th June'09.
Two Pepsi U 17 squads will be selected to represent the academy in the Pepsi International Tournament in early August and a Pepsi Football Academy National U 17 squad will also be selected to play against the Golden Eaglets in July.

The competition in Ijebu-Ode itself was a revelation as it has led to the discovery of some budding stars such as Usman Bello, who won the MVP award, along with George Afakpe, Olanrewaju Egunjobi and Ajidahun Adebayo to name just a few.
