Pepsi Academy Wins Football Award

Pepsi’s involvement in the development of football in Nigeria over the past 18 years has been significantly recognised.

At the AIT television football awards held in Abuja on October 11th 2009, the Pepsi Football Academy was presented with the Best Grassroots Football Promoter award.

While AIT nominated Pepsi for the award, the actual voting was undertaken by the public through SMS.

Chief Dr. Kasimawo Laloko, Director of the Pepsi Football Academy, who received the award said it was a befitting recognition of the efforts of Pepsi, and all the coaches of the academy, who continue to try and discover, nurture and motivate young Nigerian football talents.

He added that it was a further measure of the impact and success of the Pepsi Football Academy that the Nigeria Footballer of the Year award went to Osaze Odemwingie, a product of the academy and a Super Eagles player.

The Consultant, Iain Nelson, expressed his delight with this recognition.
“It is all the more rewarding as we did not solicit for this award and the Pepsi Football Academy was voted for by the public.”
